All the apps I have downloaded have been removed from my computer along with the google play store and photos. I tried to redownload them back from google but it said that i already have them downloaded so they are somewhere in the computer but i cannot find them in settings or when i search for them and when i try to download new apps they wont show up anywhere so im just wondering if i cant get them back or if its something internally wrong with the computer itself.

Hi @RebeccaMoriarty

Thank you for responding.

I understand that you are still unable to locate the downloaded apps. However, I would request you to perform a Powerwash on the Chromebook, as this should help resolve the issue. Please follow the link provided below for detailed instructions on how to perform a Powerwash. https://www.hp.com/au-en/shop/tech-takes/post/how-to-factory-reset-powerwash-chromebook-guide

Install any pending updates and restart the PC.  App installation problems can sometimes be caused damaged or outdated windows components.

Hi sorry but I've already done a full power wash and it didnt change a thing. I also forgot to mention my apps constantly crashed so I just restarted my computer every time they did so maybe that's iked to it.

Hi @RebeccaMoriarty

Thank you for responding.

I understand that the issue is still unresolved. However, I would request you to please verify your HP account details and check whether the issue persists. Kindly ensure that you are signed in with the correct account and that all the account information is accurate and up to date.

Verify You Are in the Correct User Account

  • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  • Select Accounts.
  • Check the account currently signed in.
  • If multiple accounts exist, sign out and sign back into the correct profile.

Check Installed Apps

  • Press Windows + I.
  • Go to Apps > Installed Apps.
  • Search for:
  • Google Play Games
  • Google Photos
  • Any missing application

If the apps are listed:

  • Click the three dots next to the app.
  • Select Advanced Options.
  • Choose Repair first.
  • If Repair does not help, select Reset.

Check the Start Menu Apps Folder

  • Press Windows + R.
  • Type:
  • shell:AppsFolder

Show more lines

  • Press Enter.

If the missing apps appear:

  • Right-click the app.
  • Select Pin to Start.
  • Select Pin to Taskbar if desired.

Rebuild Windows Search

If apps are installed but cannot be found:

  • Press Windows + I.
  • Go to Privacy & Security > Searching Windows.
  • Scroll down.
  • Choose Advanced Indexing Options.
  • Click Advanced.
  • Select Rebuild.

Wait for indexing to complete and test again.

I hope this helps.

Have a good day.
