@Eldod, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Hey! I understand how frustrating that can be, especially when you're gaming or working on something that requires good performance.
There are a few things we can look into to try and resolve the FPS drop issue you're experiencing on your HP notebook.
Here are a few steps you can try:
Update Your Graphics Drivers
Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers are a common cause of performance issues.
Check for AMD driver updates: Go to the AMD website and search for the Radeon R7 M340 driver. You can also use AMD’s Auto-Detect Tool to automatically find and install the latest drivers.
Alternatively, update through Windows:
Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
Expand the Display Adapters section, right-click on the AMD Radeon R7 M340, and choose Update Driver.
Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
Check Power Settings
If your laptop is set to Power Saver Mode, it can throttle performance to save battery. Switch it to High Performance mode:
Press Win + X and select Power Options.
Choose High Performance from the options available, or click on Change plan settings and adjust it accordingly.
Check Background Processes
Background apps and processes can consume resources, impacting gaming or general performance.
Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), go to the Processes tab, and check if any process is taking up excessive CPU or memory. You can end unnecessary tasks here.
Disable startup programs that aren’t essential by going to the Startup tab in Task Manager.
System and Game Settings
Lower the graphics settings in the game you're playing.
Try enabling V-Sync or Frame Limiter to see if that stabilizes performance.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
