Hi, dear all!

I have 2 SSD's: "native" with Windows 10 and NVME M.2.     Both of  them were initialized by Windows.
But after trying to install Ubuntu on NVME M.2 with errors (Linux wasn't installed properly), Windows and BIOS didn't detect NVME M.2 SSD.

How to initialize NVME M.2 SSD again? Please help!

I tried BIOS update, Windows update and MANY other.

P.S.   I know that NVME M.2 SSD itself works properly as I tried it on another PC and after formatting it had been working on my PC again before I tried to install Linux on it once more.

Many thanks for the reply!
But I didn't have problems with RAID/AHCI switching. Instead, my PC doesn't see the second M.2 SSD even in AHCI mode.

P.S. I tried to swith AHCI to RAID mode and back to AHCI with safeboot anyway but it hasn't help

Both m.2 devices should show up in the bios.  They will show up in windows file explorer only if both initialized.

It has been a while since I dual booted Linux & windows. Secure boot and UEFI bios makes it more difficult.

You may want to use 3rd party tools such as disk director

Please research dual boot

https://www.google.com/search?q=dual+boot+linux+windows+omen&oq=dual+boot+linux+windows+omen

If Linux was installed on one of the m.2 it will show up in the disk partitioner app.  In order to re-initialize the disk you can use the diskpart app to delete all partitions on the drive.  The following image shows a 250gb disk with Ubuntu as a single partition on disk "3"

Note that my boot disk "C" and the data disk "D" are both gpt but the linux is not. It is something else like mbr.

In order to boot MBR I am pretty sure you need to select legacy boot which may conflict with your windows 10  boot

I assume your m.2 are both less than 2tb in size and both are set for gpt

If you used Rufus to create the Linux install did you configure it for gpt?

The last time I dual booted I had win7,  Ubuntu 16, and that Acronis disk director.  A lot has changed since then.

Thank you very much, BeemerBiker!

But, unfortunately, my BIOS possibilities are very limited and there is no legacy boot option:

I am sure that BIOS doesn't see the second M.2 SSD as I tried to boot with only this SSD and bootable flash drive and no disk was observed. So Windows disk manager, diskpart app and Acronis do not see it either.

Dual boot and GRUB menu work ok with bootable flash drive but when I try to install Ubuntu my "problem" SSD doesn't show up.

Linux isn't installed on the "problem" SSD, I only attempted to do it but installation ended with mistake.

I guess the problem lies in improper partitioning on this SSD.

"Native" SSD has 1Tb, the "problem" one is 4 Tb.

When Rufus was used I сonfigured for MBR (it was default). Now I re-created flash driver with GPT configuration and tried to install Linux on the "problem" SSD but nothing has changed (SSD isn't seen enywhere).

I have same problem. I have new HP DQ5002 TU, I tried to install ubuntu (dual booting) but the ubuntu installation was failed. Then I can't boot windows again, the bios can not recognize the nvme ssd. Hp system diagnostic shows that no ssd was connected.

Hi, Arzak!

I've noticed new feature. My SSD stopped to be seen even after using CrystalDisk program, not only after Linux installation.

You need to format it to work again?

HP Recommended

My laptop has 1 nvme and it was not detected. And now my hp stuck on "Boot device not found".

But if I open "Try Ubuntu" using flash drive I can see nvme from `lspci` and `lshw`.

But I can't see it on `gparted` and `fdisk -l`

Do I need to plug in it on another PC and format it?

HP Recommended

Yes, and I need another PC to format it.
