My desktop originally shipped with Windows 10 and later I updated to Windows 11. I've since installed additional RAM and just put in a new SSD. The SSD needs a BIOS update to achieve max speeds. When I use the HP website to find and update drivers and software, I get to the dropdown menu that will only allow me to select Windows 10 as the OS. I can't go any further and select the newest BIOS for my motherboard. If I do select Windows 10 from the dropdown menu, it shows that the latest BIOS is F.52. I'm currently running F.48. My question is this: If I download the newest BIOS by selecting Windows 10 from the menu, will it be compatible with my current OS? I think that it would be since it is based on the motherboard, and all the core information remains the same. Am I correct in thinking that?

It is always dangerous to upgrade bios. Unless there is a real need and the HP support assistant requests the upgrade, I would not do it. Look at the BIOS revision history and see if an upgrade is useful. Updates that improve security are needed in a corporate environment but for gaming system they will likely slow down your system.
Check your warranty and decided if you want to risk a BIOS upgrade
Have you run diagnostics?
Tap the ESC key after powering on and press F2 to run diagnostics.
Do not allow any updates if disk or memory fail, especially a BIOS update.
I looked at the difference between 48 and 51 and only security was listed.
I did not see 52 listed. Where did you see 52? If it was a Microsoft update then ignore it or take your chances
