Hello, all! I'm new to the forum and I came here in hopes to find some extra help on updating the bios on the HP Envy 700-414 I have.

Specs:

-Intel i5-4570

-16Gb DDR3

-Added RX 5500xt 4gb

The bios update Im currently on (AMI 80.20) was the last time it was updated and I have the latest bios file from its time downloaded (AMI 80.23). But as went a head to try an update the update through its application sp76898, it does the necessary thing to download its files to a storage source but it doesn't open the HP Bios Update Utility to ask me if I want to update the firmware through the device or usb and instead closes after installing its files into the selected storage device, that being my Hard Drive. I can't upgrade to the CPU without this bios update so any help resolving this issue will be greatly appreciated! 🙏

Create a USB boot using Rufus that boots into free dos.

extract the files in sp76898.exe using 7-zip but first check in c:\swsetup\sp76898 to see if they are there already.  Copy the files to the USB flash drive.  You should see something like the below:

SETUP.EXE
SAFUWIN64.exe
Pmxdll32e.dll
MEM_8023.BIN
MEInfo64.exe
ME9_1482.BIN
Idrvdll32e.dll
FWUpdLcl64.exe
flash.bat

boot the usb and run the flash.bat file

let me know if it works!
