HP Compaq pro 6300 Small Form Factory
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello, I've been trying to update the Bios from a HP Compaq pro 6300 Small Form Factory. It had had the version from 2012 v2.02(? and I could updated it to v2.90 from 2013. There's another update from 2014 but it doesn't show the options to install from Windows nor it has the binary file. now I'm trying to get 2019's v3.08 I did the same steps from the 2013 update: run the softpaq, then it opened an edge page and chosed BIOS updates in Microsoft Windows option and ran HPQFlash then it restared. It worked for 2013 version, but it doesn't for 2019 ver. Then I tried to run the bin from a usb (Flash System ROM)>usb>(k01_0308.BIN) in BIOS and it says that the ROM image is incompatible.

Hi:

In order to update the BIOS to the 3.xx versions, you first have to update it to v2.99.

Once you do that, you will be able to update to v3.08.

Version: v02.99 Rev.A
Fixed in this release: - Customers MUST flash this BIOS first, before flashing to the v03.xx versions.
- Added enhancement to allow for flashing forward to v03.xx.
- This is the same version as v02.98.

I recommend that you safely update the BIOS using the F10 Setup BIOS flash method.

You need to format your USB flash drive with the FAT32 file system.

Then copy the contents of the DOS flash folder to your USB flash drive.  Just the files, not the folder.

Then restart the PC, tap the ESC key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen to get the menu of options.

Select the F10 setup option.

Select the File tab>Flash system ROM command.

Select the USB flash drive.

The PC should 'see't the BIOS files on the flash drive.

Follow the on screen instructions to update the BIOS.
