HP All-in-One 24-f00xx

I just replaced the AMD A9 MB with a Intel i5-8250U MB in my HP AIO 24-f0020 and did a clean install of Windows 11.  I noticed after completing install that the DVD drive was not detected and the wireless KBM did not work in BIOS mode (had to use wired KBM for BIOS navigation).  So, I ran HP Support Assistant to check for newer drivers.  It recommended updating BIOS to the following:

  • HP Consumer Desktop PC BIOS Update (ROM Family SSID 8431)

  • F.51 Rev.A
  • May 22, 2025

When the Support Assistant attempts to install the newer BIOS the following error occurs:

"This update is for BIOS Family 8431, version F.51."

"The BIOS you are installing is older than the current version in the system and cannot be executed."

which is incorrect.  See system information below.

I'm very worried I may brick the motherboard if I do a manual install of the BIOS.  Will this jump from the present AMI F.10, 10/29/2018 BIOS version to SSID 8431, version F.51 brick the motherboard?  How should I proceed?  Any advice?

Let me know if any further information is needed.

I figured out the problem.  The Support Assistant recommended the wrong BIOS update to apply (SSID 8431).   I realized under System Information, the BaseBoard Product 84DE was the SSID. I found the BIOS for SSID 84DE in the available BIOS list online under HP Product Support Software and Drivers webpage.  BIOS for SSID 84DE installed successfully.

  • HP Consumer Desktop PC BIOS Update (ROM Family SSID 84DE)

  • F.53 Rev.A
