Microsoft Windows 11

As I retired IT guy I volunteer at a church providing tech support.  A user has a HP All-in-One 24-dp1xxx running Windows 11 Pro.  She uses Bluetooth to listen to music with airpods. Recently, Bluetooth disappears.  In Settings the option to turn on Bluetooth doesn't show.  A reboot at first made Bluetooth reappear but then stopped.  I got into UEFI and ran the Bluetooth diags and it finds the adapter and passes the test.

So, is this a intermittent failure and the adapter should be replaced or is it something else?  TIA

Hi @Hammerhead1024,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Bluetooth issues on the HP All-in-One 24-dp!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Bluetooth Driver:

  • Go to Device Manager (Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager).
  • Look for "Bluetooth" and expand the section.
  • If you see a yellow exclamation mark or Bluetooth is missing entirely, the driver may need updating or reinstalling.
  • You can update the driver by right-clicking the Bluetooth device and selecting "Update Driver."

Reinstall Bluetooth Driver:

  • If updating does not resolve the issue, you might consider uninstalling the driver (right-click and select "Uninstall device"), then restart the PC. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver upon reboot.

Check Windows Updates:

  • Ensure that Windows 11 is fully updated, as updates sometimes contain patches for hardware incompatibilities or driver issues.

Power Management Settings:

  • In Device Manager, go to the Bluetooth adapter, open "Properties," and check the "Power Management" tab.
  • Uncheck the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" to prevent Bluetooth from disconnecting.

Run Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Navigate to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter to detect any potential issues.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Since Bluetooth is found during UEFI diagnostics, hardware is likely functioning. However, intermittent connection can suggest possible loose internal connections or failing Bluetooth adapters.

BIOS/UEFI Update:

  • Verify that the BIOS/UEFI is updated to the latest version. Sometimes firmware updates resolve hardware compatibility issues.

Check Additional Bluetooth Software:

  • Ensure no third-party Bluetooth management applications are interfering with Windows’ native Bluetooth functionality.

I hope this helps.
