OMEN by HP 45L Gaming Desktop PC GT22-1000a (6M9S6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Bug Report: OMEN Gaming Hub - Kernel non-paged pool leak via GPU polling (OmenCommandCenter.exe)

Date: 15 September 2026

Severity: High: progressive system-wide performance degradation, unbounded kernel memory consumption

Component: OMEN Gaming Hub / OmenCommandCenter.exe

Summary

OmenCommandCenter.exe allocates kernel non-paged pool memory through the DirectX graphics memory manager at a rate of approximately one allocation set per second and does not release it. The allocations accumulate for the lifetime of the process. Over a 66-hour uptime period this consumed approximately 3.4 GB of non-paged pool on the affected system.

Because non-paged pool is never swapped to disk, the growth progressively exhausts the free page list and forces the memory manager to reclaim standby pages to satisfy new allocations. The observable symptom is system-wide unresponsiveness on return from idle, worsening with uptime and cleared by reboot.

Terminating OmenCommandCenter.exe halts the growth immediately and releases the accumulated memory.

Attached images show before/after RAM composition.

Hi  @hurleyman

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed report, including the memory usage screenshots. I appreciate the effort you've put into isolating the behaviour and documenting the findings.

Based on the information provided, it appears that the non-paged pool consumption increases over time while OMEN Gaming Hub is active and stabilizes when OmenCommandCenter.exe is closed.

To help us better understand the environment and reproduce the behavior, could you kindly provide the following details?

  • The BIOS version installed on the system.
  • Have you noticed whether the memory growth continues when OMEN Gaming Hub is minimized or running only in the background?

In the meantime, kindly try the following steps:

  1. Open Microsoft Store and check for updates to OMEN Gaming Hub and all HP applications.
  2. Update the system BIOS and chipset drivers from the HP support page for your OMEN 45L.
  3. Perform a clean installation of the graphics driver:
    • Download the latest graphics driver directly from NVIDIA.
    • Choose the Clean Installation option during setup if available.
  4. Restart the computer and monitor non-paged pool usage over several hours to determine whether a particular feature triggers the increase.
  5. Run the Windows System File Checker:
  6. sfc /scannow

You may also find the following HP documents helpful:

The screenshots you provided showing the pool allocations and the reduction after terminating OmenCommandCenter.exe are particularly valuable. Kindly also let us know whether the issue is related to the application installation, a specific feature module, or interaction with the graphics driver.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
