C drive almost full on brand new Envy - photo app icon is problematic

I have a brand new Envy desktop.  I copied all my files from old HP desktop to C drive.  Now the C drive is almost full??  Red bar gives me a warning the drive is almost full. I found out there are two drives, with D drive relatively free.  I transferred all but my photos to the D drive.

I cannot cut and past all my photos due to the photo icon being part of the C drive desktop apps.  I have followed previous commentors suggestions to start saving all on D drive (not a problem).  How do I resolve C drive small size and/or move all pictures to D drive without finding myself with a empty  "photos" icon? I can't move that icon off the C drive.

Not knowing the physical layout of your "drives" I can not provide any details about how to resize them.  If you have only one physical drive but two volumes on it (e.g., C; and D:), then it would be possible, using bootable partitioning tools, to shrink the 😧 drive, reboot, enlarge the C: drive to use up the now free space.  If you have two separate physical drives, say a smaller SSD and a larger HDD, then there is nothing you could do.

In addition, I have found the utility Cleanmgr+ to have LOTS of options for removing Windows junk, including log files. I use it practically every day. You can get it from here:

I have a small C drive of 237 GB SSD and a larger D drive of 1.81 TB.  Why does HP associate the "photos" icon with a small C drive.  Did I buy the wrong computer?

it is unfortunately a problem of configuration of many models
Hp is not only responsible, the windows system, although it allows it, is not configured for several hard disks
You can move the folders using, the option "save new content location"

That association is how Windows is setup, not what HP does.  Windows presumes that everything you download and save is going to be put somewhere under your Profile, and that is on the C: drive.  You have to manually make changes to have the default saving location be on a different drive.

As to the SSD size, I regularly run PCs with 120GB SSDs and NEVER run out of space on the drive.  But then, I changed the default saving location to the HDD and I regularly run the tools I mention to you to clean out the crud from the C: drive.
