Can't install Windows Updates KB5012170 21H2 error 0x800f0900 and KB5022282 21H2
Suspect my BIOS won't support these security updates. HP support shows my PC as retired. Any Hope of a BIOS Update?

Hi:
Yes, it appears that HP has retired support for your PC since the release date is over 10 years old.
There is a BIOS update you can run from this reputable 3rd party website but since it was written to be run on W7 and maybe W8, I don't know what will happen if you try and run it on W10.
HP Pavilion Slimline s5-1224 BIOS v.8.20 Re.A (driverscollection.com)
It is also possible that even if you update the BIOS, those updates won't install.
I think I had the same issue with a newer PC than yours where that update won't install.
You can run the Microsoft Hide Windows Update utility that I zipped up and attached below that will hide the update from installing.
Run the update. It will find the security update that won't install.
Check the box to hide the update. The utility will run again and report the problem is 'Fixed.'
Restart the PC and the update should no longer appear.

You're very welcome.
Yes, that file comes in handy to hide driver and other updates that don't work/fail to install on certain PC's.
Microsoft doesn't offer it on their support site anymore.
It also works in W11 too.
