Can anyone use use Chat in HP Support Assistant

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Can anyone use the Chat section in the HP Support Assistant which came installed in the computer? I use to be able to use it, then all of a sudden it no longer works. Instead of connecting to chat, it tells me "External resource - Follow instructions on the other screen (what ever that means - there is no other screen). I have contacted HP support thru other means and they have no idea what is wrong. They have taken over computer and tried many times to get it to work. They said they were elevating to the next higher support team to fix. That was many months ago and I have heard nothing. I am able to use chat by another site, but I am curious if anyone else is able to use it or have same problem. HP also says they have extended the warranty due to this problem, but it does not show any extension on the web site. Is that normal? Thank you.
