Microsoft Windows 11

I use a  HP Victus Gaming Laptop 15-fa0032dx 68Y11UA and recently, the camera driver just won't appear anywhere in my drivers list. I cannot use the camera at all. The official HP site for my laptop doesn't have any available drivers for a camera. I have updated my windows, installed optional drivers, restarted my laptop several times, seen the hidden drivers (no camera), looked for hardware changes and tried to add legacy drivers to no success. I've tried to use microsoft's troubleshoot but it hasn't worked and the HP support assistant hasn't helped either. I'm at a complete loss.

Hi @snowonalloween,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • When did the issue first start (after a Windows update, BIOS update, or suddenly)?
  • Do you see any “Unknown device” or “Imaging device” entries in Device Manager at all?

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check BIOS Settings:
    • Restart your laptop and enter BIOS (usually by pressing F10 during startup).
    • Look for any setting related to the camera or “Integrated Devices” and ensure it is enabled.
  2. Windows Privacy Settings:
    • Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
    • Make sure camera access is turned on for apps and for Windows itself.
  3. Device Manager Scan:
    • In Device Manager, click View > Show hidden devices.
    • Expand “Imaging devices” or “Cameras.” If nothing appears, try Action > Scan for hardware changes.
  4. HP Hardware Diagnostics:
    • Press F2 at startup to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
    • Run a component test for the camera if available. This can confirm if the hardware is detected.
  5. Windows Camera App Test:
    • Open the Camera app directly. If the app reports “No camera found,” it may indicate a hardware-level issue.
  6. BIOS Update:
  • Ensure your BIOS is updated to the latest version from the HP support website for your model.

I hope this helps.
