Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

although mouse and keyboard are configured correctly in the energy settings, it is impossible to wake up the pc through mouse or keyboard (all non HP-pcs that I care for, do wake up).

I have an idea, that it has to do with the S0 - S5 states, but no chance to configure in bios.

Can anybody help?

Thanks in advance und regards

Joern

Correct, because BIOS updates are BIOS updates, which are independent of the operating system (Linux, Windows, FreeDOS) that is running on the computer.

Example:

ROM Firmware for 8300 Elite and 6300 Pro Business PCs (K01)
 v02.99 Rev.A 16.1 MB Oct 19, 2015

Type: BIOS
Version: v02.99 Rev.A
Operating systems: Windows 7 (64-bit)
Release date: Oct 19, 2015
File name: sp73099.exe (16.1 MB)

Description:

This package provides the HP Business Desktop System BIOS Package for supported models running a supported operating system.

Fix and enhancements:

- Customers MUST flash this BIOS first, before flashing to the v03.xx versions.
- Added enhancement to allow for flashing forward to v03.xx.
- This is the same version as v02.98.

Read this article (it's in lowlevel Geek-speak) about hybrid, hibernate modes.

Try tapping the power button.

Hi HP Expert,

thanks for your answer.

Tapping the power button really is the only way i can wake up the system.

But I want it to wake up by mouse or keyboard!  Why does this not function with my HP computer?

The article about sleeping, hibernating and generally setting the energy options should be basic knowledge.

Once again:

In my opinion  the reason for the misfunction is to be found in setting the S0 - S5 states correctly. But that seems to be impossible in bios v 02.83.

Is there an update that can handle these states?

Unfortunately no answers. I am about to give up.

But once again:

Is there a possibility that an update of bios 02.83 would fix the issue?

Hi,

the answer to this question might solve my problem:

Is the bios v02.83 ACPI compliant?

Thanks and regards

Open "Device Manager".

Double-click on the "Keyboards" label.

Double-click on your specific keyboard.

Click on the "Power Management" tab.

Put a check-mark to the left of "allow this device to wake the computer".

Click "OK".

This should allow the keyboard to "wake" the computer.

I really don't know what to do with your answer.

On the one hand you quote out of my initial post "mouse and keyboard are configured correctly in the energy settings" on the other you recommend to excactly do this.

Such answers really are a waste of time for everyone concerned.

I really would appriciate if you had an answer to my question in my previous post:

Is the bios v02.83 ACPI compliant?

Thanks for answering.

Can't tell which motherboard, but here are some details:

HP Compaq Elite 8300 CMT

S/N:[edited]

Product No: QV993AV

The website, which you quote, was checked by me many times. But they don't offer my OS Windows 10, 64bit.They don't even offer results for W 8/8.1, 64bit.

Question still remains:

Is any of these bios-versions you propose compliant with ACPI ???? Which version would you suggest?

Thanks for your bother and regards
