8200 Elite minitower
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I cannot boot from a bootable CD or DVD. I changed the boot order but that does not solve the problem. I followed procedure from bleepingcomputer.com but a big NO. They said to check with you guys. I'm running Windows 10 Pro 64bit.

Hi:

I have two 8200 Elite CMT's and what I found out after not being able to boot from a DVD or CD is that in the F9 boot options menu, you have to move the arrow down below the actual line that shows the DVD and select the SATA2 device and press the Enter key.

It took me a while to figure that out because I could not find any instructions that indicated that is what you need to do.

Ok, that works. Are you having a compatibility problem with Windows 11? It tells me mine is not able to run it. Any workarounds that you know of. Can't afford a new PC. Can I update anything in mine to make it comptable. It did say I do not have the correct processor, but that would be an impossible task since I no longer have the means to change it out

My 8200 Elite CMT's run fine on W11.

You are correct...they don't meet the Windows 11 requirements Microsoft established (they don't support secure boot, don't have an Intel 8th gen core processor or newer, and the TPM version is only 1.2).

So, you have to use one of the few workarounds out there to bypass the W11 hardware checks so you can upgrade to W11.

I found this method to be the easiest way to do that...

I would make a system image of your current W10 installation prior to updating to W11, so you can easily reinstall W10 in the future.  I used the free Macrium Reflect software to do that, under the Backup at Home section.

Along with the system image, make sure you create the bootable DVD or USB rescue drive you boot from to access the system image stored on your portable hard drive.

I will try all of that. Not really up to date on those things, but us old dogs CAN learn new tricks. Was in computers, i.e, IBM Series One mainframe, Cobalt, Fortran. That was centuries ago, tho. I should be able to tackle this.

The method to upgrade to W11 on that link was very easy to do.

After you upgrade, you will probably have to reinstall the AMT driver, if there is a PCI Serial Port listed in the device manager that needs a driver.
