Hi

I have the HP AIO desktop and have a new Microsoft Surface 4 laptop. I want to connect the MS Surface to the HP desktop so I can use the laptop on my HP big screen instead of having to change HDMI cables from one to the other, as well as have my monitor setup and not have to switch cords.

I have purchased a couple of adaptors to enable connection laptop to monitor but my main issue is having to switch cables when I want to use the other device.

Short version : can I connect the HP desktop to the MS surface 4 to utilise the larger screen on my HP.

Thanks

The specs of your machine is

            https://support.hp.com/sg-en/document/c06404785

It has HDMI in port and HDMI out port at its back

          https://support.hp.com/sg-en/document/c06117849

Therefor you can use its monitor as an external display of another device(s). You can share HDMI in port using HDMI switch, no need to move the HDMI cable. For example

             https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/comsol-2-port-bi-directional-4k-hdmi-switch-cohdbd...

My friend told me there are few swiches can do automatically BUT I don't know which one. May be the following one

                  https://www.startech.com/en-au/audio-video-products/vs421hd4ka    (very expensive)

Regards.

Thanks so much! I knew I needed an outgoing HDMI port and now I will have a look at connecting it. Appreciate your help!
