I have a very old computer. HP Envy. It has a sticker on the outside that says “intel core 17 inside”. I disconnected all the wires from the back of my tower. Now i’m unsure where all the wires go. Is there a diagram that would show me where in the back of my tower where the wires go for my internet, printer, mouse and keyboard?

@Elttmt, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Here is a general guide on how to reconnect the wires for commonly used peripherals on an HP desktop computer:
Internet Connection:
- Ethernet Cable: This should connect to the Ethernet port, which typically looks like a larger phone jack. It's often located on the motherboard I/O panel on the back of the desktop.
Printer Connection:
- USB Cable: Connect the USB cable from your printer to one of the USB ports located on the back of your computer. Select any available port.
Mouse Connection:
- USB Cable: Similarly, the mouse usually connects via USB. Plug it into a USB port available on the back of the computer. Some older models may use a PS/2 port which is round and colored, typically green for the mouse.
Keyboard Connection:
- USB Cable or PS/2 Port: The keyboard connects via USB or a purple-colored PS/2 port if your computer features PS/2 connectivity.
If your computer features color-coded ports, these color indications will help guide your connections:
- USB Ports are typically black or another standard color depending on generation and speed (e.g., blue for USB 3.0).
- PS/2 Ports are color-coded, with the mouse port often green and the keyboard port purple.
- Ethernet Ports do not usually have specific colors, but they are distinct in shape, resembling a larger phone line jack.
For detailed instructions tailored to your specific model, you may refer to the user manual or visit the HP website
I hope this helps.
