My DVD player stopped working and it says I need to reinstall the HPDVDSMART.exe file but there is no such file on the HP website and on the web there are only third party sites that don't look trustworthy.  Where do I get the file?

Hi:

See if reinstalling this software resolves the problem...

HP MediaSmart DVD Software     4.0.3822 Rev.

This package provides the HP MediaSmart DVD Software for supported models that are running a supported operating system. The HP MediaSmart DVD Software enables users to watch movies in DVD or Blu-ray disc (BD) formats.

Thanks Paul, that seems to have done the trick!  In in all less than an hour from my posting.  HP should work as well as you.  Wonder why the file is not seachable on the HP website.  I seached HP Media Smart.

You're very welcome.

How I found it...I did a Bing search of the exe file you posted, and found this archived forum discussion.

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Archive-Read-Only/dv4t-1200-HPDVDsmart-exe-crashes-new-out-o...

Then I went to the dv4t-1200 notebook support page, and posted the link to the newer software version listed there for you.

There were two versions listed.
