Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

DVDs are initially recognized but when start  playing only play to the menu then you are unable to set any options. All dvd's that have been tried are all propriety DVDs. Have tried an external usb CD DVD Drive this makes no difference. Have checked the DVD CD -Rom drives which are up to date.

Any Ideas please?

I have gone through your Post and I would like to help

Ensure Autoplay is enabled

  1. In Windows, search for and open Control Panel.

  2. Click Hardware and Sound, and then click AutoPlay.

  3. Select the Use AutoPlay for all media and devices setting.

Autoplay window, Use AutoPlay for all media and devices

  4. Next to each DVD, Blu-ray, and CD type, click the drop-down menu, select Ask me every time, and then click Save.

Select Ask me every time in the AutoPlay settings

  5. Test a disc in the drive.

If the issue persists, reinstall the DVD Drive from the Device Manager

  1. Remove any disc from the drive.

  2. In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.

  3. Double-click DVD/CD-ROM drives to expand the category.

    Device Manager DVD/CD-ROM drives

  4. Right-click the drive name, and then select Uninstall device or Uninstall.

Device Manager window, uninstall DVD/CD-ROM drive

  5. Click Uninstall or similar to confirm the uninstall.

  6. Close all open programs, and then restart the computer. Windows automatically configures the device.

  7. Test a disc in the drive.

Hello, thank you for your reply, I have tried your solution, unfortunately it has not improved the problem. It seems that the problem is with certain DVDs, which is odd because all my DVDs are proprietary brands, no cheapies or copies. All the problem ones play okay on my Panasonic DVD player.
Thank you again for your reply.
kind regards.

Thanks for keeping me posted.

Since the issue is only with certain DVDs then the DVD Drive Hardware Functionality is fine
