HP Support Assistant provided a notification to the effect that my device no longer receives support services. I know this is out of warranty, but would like to know if this device will still receive its usual security updates. The device is up to date according to Support Assistant. Running Windows 10.
Please see the attached screenshot.

Hi @WEDD67,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
Even though your HP Pavilion 590-p0081c has received a notification from HP Support Assistant indicating that it no longer receives support services, this primarily refers to the end of warranty services and HP-provided technical support, including hardware repairs or troubleshooting specific to HP software. However, this does not affect your ability to receive security updates or other important updates from Microsoft for Windows 10.
Key Points:
Windows 10 Security Updates:
- Your computer will continue to receive regular security updates and patches from Microsoft as long as Windows 10 is supported. Microsoft has committed to providing updates for Windows 10 until October 14, 2025.
HP Updates:
- While HP may not provide new software updates or drivers for your specific model through HP Support Assistant, your computer's core functionality and security will still be maintained through Windows Update. This includes updates to the operating system, security patches, and critical driver updates.
Third-Party Software Updates:
- Any third-party software installed on your device will also continue to receive updates independently of HP Support Assistant.
Recommendations:
- Windows Update: Ensure that your Windows Update settings are configured to automatically download and install updates. This will help keep your system secure.
- Alternative Tools: You can manually check for driver updates on the HP website or use alternative tools like the Device Manager in Windows to check for driver updates if needed.
- Backup and Security: Continue to maintain regular backups and consider using a reputable antivirus program to further protect your device.
In summary, while your HP Pavilion 590-p0081c may no longer receive support services from HP, it will still receive the usual security updates and patches from Microsoft for Windows 10 until at least for another year.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

I really appreciate your comprehensive and thorough answer. It addressed not only the original question, but related questions as well.
It may help other customers to know that even though our antivirus provider tries to upsell us into subscribing to their driver update service, this is not necessary for critical security reasons.
