Hi,

I am having issues when trying to install DirectX, part way through the installation it fails and advises that "An internal system error has occurred".

I have installed all Windows updates, and I have reinstalled Windows 10 but nothing I have Goolged etc has worked.

Thanks

Hi Abepic,

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are facing an issue with installing direct X, I am glad to assist you today.

The issue seems to be the downloaded file is corrupt. To better assist you with your concern, I'd like to know the following:

  • Confirm which build is currently installed on your device. To check, follow the steps below:
  1. Press Windows key + R, then type in winver.
  2. Click OK.
  • Are you using any third-party antivirus software? If yes, try to disable it and install the DirectX June 2010.

Meanwhile, we recommend running the System File Checker. It's a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. Refer to the steps below:

1. Click on Start, type in Command Prompt, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.

2. Enter the command below:

sfc /scannow (note the space between "sfc" and "/").

Looking forward to your response.
