Hi @mdic_76

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

To disable PalmCheck or SmartSense on a Synaptics touchpad in Windows 11, you’ll need to access the advanced touchpad settings via the classic Control Panel or the Synaptics driver interface—if available. If the option is missing, a driver rollback or alternate driver may be required.

Step-by-Step: Disable PalmCheck / SmartSense on Synaptics Touchpad (Windows 11)

1. Access Synaptics Settings via Control Panel

  • Press Windows + R, type main.cpl, and press Enter
  • This opens Mouse Properties
  • Go to the Device Settings or ClickPad Settings tab
  • Click Settings or Advanced Settings
  • Look for PalmCheck, SmartSense, or Touch Sensitivity
    • If found, set PalmCheck to Minimum or disable SmartSense

These options are often hidden in submenus like Advanced Gestures or SmartSense Settings

2. Use Windows Settings (If Synaptics Tab Is Missing)

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Touchpad
  • Scroll to Advanced Settings
  • If available, disable Touchpad sensitivity filters or Typing detection

This method works only if your system exposes Synaptics features through Windows UI

3. Install or Roll Back Synaptics Driver

Visit:  HP Touchpad Driver Downloads

Enter your laptop model and download the Synaptics Touchpad Driver (not Windows default)

If already installed, go to Device Manager > Mice and other pointing devices

  • Right-click Synaptics Touchpad > Properties > Driver tab
  • Click Roll Back Driver (if available)

Older Synaptics drivers often expose PalmCheck settings that newer ones hide

4. Use HP Control Zone Utility (If Available)

  • Some HP models include a separate utility for touchpad zones
  • Check Programs > HP > HP Control Zone Settings or similar

This may offer direct toggles for PalmCheck or SmartSense

5. Test with External Mouse Temporarily

  • If disabling PalmCheck proves difficult, connect a USB mouse
  • Then go to Settings > Touchpad and toggle Disable touchpad when mouse is connected

This avoids interference during gaming until touchpad settings are fully accessible

Let me know what options appear in your Mouse Properties or if you'd like help locating the correct Synaptics driver for your specific model.

You’ve done everything right—this sequence should help you regain full control over your touchpad during gameplay.
