Hi @steveblue10,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Pavilion Desktop PC TP01 is experiencing random changes in screen brightness when you move your mouse, there are a few possible causes and solutions you can try.

  • Check power settings: Even though you mentioned not having adaptive brightness enabled, it's worth checking your power settings to ensure that there are no power-saving features affecting the screen brightness. Go to Control Panel > Power Options and select a power plan that doesn't have any adaptive brightness or similar settings enabled.
  • Graphics driver: Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can sometimes cause issues with screen brightness. Visit the HP support website and download the latest graphics drivers specifically designed for your model of desktop PC. Install the drivers and see if the issue persists.
  • Disable dynamic contrast: Some monitors have a feature called "dynamic contrast" that automatically adjusts the brightness and contrast based on the content being displayed. This can sometimes cause unexpected changes in brightness. Check your monitor settings (usually accessible through the physical buttons on the monitor) and disable any dynamic contrast or dynamic brightness options.
  • Disable ambient light sensors: Some monitors have built-in ambient light sensors that adjust the screen brightness based on the lighting conditions in the room. These sensors can sometimes be overly sensitive or malfunction, causing erratic brightness changes. Check your monitor settings or consult the user manual to disable any ambient light sensors.
  • Test with a different mouse: It's possible that the issue is related to your mouse or its drivers. Try using a different mouse and see if the problem persists. If the issue goes away with a different mouse, you may need to update or reinstall the drivers for your original mouse.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
