Hello. My desktop is not booting, as it is missing the drivers to actually see the drive. If anyone can help me find some replacements, that would be greatly appreciate it. I have used this computer for 2 years, and am not giving up now.

Thanks for the additional info.

 

I'm a little more confused parsing the info you have provided.

 

You are seeing blue screens at system startup and are getting the WinRE screen. But some Windows recovery options are not available which suggest the Windows Recovery partition is corrupted.

 

A HP hardware diagnostic drive warning would suggest the system drive is failing and should be replaced.

 

A Windows reinstallation is asking for a driver to access the system disk which is a different issue.

 

I can't say if your system drive is failing or you need the Intel RST driver so Windows setup can see the system disk.

 

@Paul_Tikkanen could assist if you need the IRST driver to install Windows.

 

Or you need a new system drive. And you may also need the IRST driver to install Windows.

 

I have been building AMD systems since 2020. AMD systems don't need a storage driver during a Windows installation.

 

Have you tried a HP Cloud Recovery if your PC qualifies. The HP recovery image would have the IRST driver.

Please describe the exact error you see when you start your PC.

 

Your PC could have a failing system drive or Windows boot manager corruption.

When I start it up, sometimes it gives a blue screen with scattered black rectangles, but sometimes it starts in the repair screen. However, it was missing some options. Plus, some don't work. I ran several diagnostics, and everything is fine, but the drive has a warning and didn't scan any bytes. When I tried to reinstall  Windows 11, it asked me to install a driver to view the hard disk. Health is fine, and didn't tamper with anything. Nothing happened, so probably auto-updated and removed the driver.

Hi:

The PC comes with an AMD Ryzen5 3400G processor which would not use an Intel storage controller driver and Windows does not need any AMD storage controller drivers to find the drive.

 

I agree with Bill_To's recommendation to try the HP cloud recovery tool to reinstall Windows.


I checked the cloud recovery tool database and the PC is supported.

 

Since you have to use the tool on another PC to create the recovery media, you will have to enter the PC's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed to make the recovery media.

I have given up trying to check product specs given the current HP Support situation.

 

I should have checked to see if the PC was an AMD system. 😀

 

I think the system drive is cooked.
