I purchased an Elite Desk G4 to comply with MS's October Edict!

I installed W10 Pro on it to facilitate moving from a G3 running under W10 Pro.

Once successfully running and migrated I would upgrade to W11 (sucks).

MS then made staying on W10 easier by extending the Updates via a fee.

I gladly coughed up the extorsion price.

With that said, since I'm successfully running on the G4 under W10-Pro-64 might this work?

Removing the Hard Drive from the G4 and installing it in the G3?

Yes, or No?

If no, why?

Best regards,

Mike Lynch

It might work, since they are only one processor and chipset series different.

The only reason I can think of why it won't work is if the drivers are so different for the chipset and drive controller that it won't boot up.

The only way you are going to find that out is to try it and see.

I've done it before successfully and unsuccessfully.
