I am trying to run Win XP in a virtual machine. When I try to run the virtual machine it gives an error that AMD-V is not enabled. When I look in Windows 10 System Information, it confirms that CPU Virtualization is Disabled.

When I go to BIOS there is no setting found to toggle the CPU Virtualization Enable-Disable.

My Processor is  AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 B24 Processor, 3000 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s).

My BIOS Version/Date Hewlett-Packard 786G6 v01.17, 4/18/2012.

I checked for a BIOS update and there is none.

Why would HP disable AMD-V by default and then not provide a way to Enable it??

Is there any way to Enable AMD-V?? I NEED this!!!!

Unfortunately there is no BIOS upgrade from HP that will provide the AMD-V option for you.

You are fortunate in that it even runs Windows 10. Windows 8 was the most recent supported OS.

If you are willing to take the risk, there are third party BIOS enthusiast forums outside of the HP forum that do offer ROM files that may have the advanced BIOS option you seek.

I wish you good luck in your BIOS endeavor.
