Microsoft Windows 11

I have an Envy desktop TE01-0165t. My firmware was automatically updated to version 15.35 and now cannot connect to the internet. My internet is wireless only and works with all my other devices.

I tried to roll back the firmware to version 15.34 but got the dreaded “BIOS signature is not valid” message. I was able to open the EFI partition and noted that the previous firmware version was there, along with its SIG file.

So now I’m stumped. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Tim

Have you tried reinstalling your wifi device software?

I uninstalled the Wi-Fi adapter and let Windows recreate it. I also fell back to an older version of the Wi-Fi adapter. Neither action helped. I also temporarily turned off the firewall. No help. I also downloaded — using another device — the previous firmware version, but when I went to install it within Windows, I got a message that it’s not possible to install an older version. When I made a copy of the BIN and SIG files, put them on a thumb drive and tried to install them from UEFI utilities window, I got the “unable to open BIOS signature file” message again. I also did the BIOS recovery process using Win key + B. No help. I am kind of at my wit’s end.

One workaround would be to purchase and use a USB WIFI dongle for wireless.

WIFI dongles are seriously inexpensive these days.

I suspect that the reason you are having the issue is because of the updated Windows 11 operating system.

Your TE01-0165t  desktop PC was delivered with Windows 10.

Use the Device manager to see which brand and model number your WIFI module is. Once you have done that, going to the ,manufacturer's website may be the place to get an updated driver that will work with Windows 11.

It will be either Realtek or Intel. We just need to know which one.
