Not a problem re HP specifically but I'm hoping some expert might have a bit of good advice for me.   I have been using Google's Picasa until recently but they have ceased its functioning.   Is there a decent downloadable alternative to replace it and, if so, how do I get at it?

@BrianJoyce,

Maybe I did not get you to fully understand the definition of what you reported. It still works, but is not supported with updates.

The Picasa version I offered works. I use it to import my camera card.  I will direct you.

Deleting the other version of Picasa does not remove your photo's. It just removes the links and thumbnails.  You have 2 file locations within Picasa.  You can allow it scan the entire computer, or have it confined to the Pictures folder.  Personally I would keep all pictures within the Pictures folder. (Presently I have stored 38+ GB of photo's, with 10,550+ photos spread across 555+ individual folders and subfolders).  I only say this to impress you with the quantity that Picasa can handle.

Process:

Move all photo's to the Picture folder.

Delete the old version of Picasa

Install the verison I linked.  Run the program selecting only Picture folder.

Enjoy the import of the files as you sip whatever beverage you fancy.

@BrianJoyce,

I still use the Picasa 3.9.141 (build 259).  I just do not update it.

Your reply is appreciated and understood but I need more, I'm afraid.   I could still get at some of my pictures already stored on Picasa but I want to add or access hundreds of others on my Pc files, such as those added since the Picasa shutoff date.   Nevertheless, thanks for taking the time to answer.   I shall try to find some other program which might do the job in place of Picasa.

Thanks very much for that.  I have taken the steps you suggested and appear to have PICASA again.   In fact, it showed far more than I expected and I have had to edit and delete quite a lot of stuff but that was my own fault.   I should have selected the choice for getting my own files only whereas I found 100s of pictures from my backup drive which duplicate those I want.   But all is well now so I'm glad I asked you HP wizards for assistance.   Thanks again!

What did you do exactly?  Are you able to print to an HP printer?

I have tons of photos on Picassa and my new HP 7855 wont read the messages sent to print from Picassa
