Hi @Jackson60,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering a common issue with Windows updates, where the update process gets stuck or loops. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue.

Restart your computer: Sometimes, simply restarting your laptop can resolve temporary glitches in the update process.

Run Windows Update Troubleshooter:

  • Press Win + I to open Settings.
  • Go to Update & Security.
  • Click on Troubleshoot in the left pane.
  • Select Additional troubleshooters.
  • Find and run the Windows Update troubleshooter.

Clear the Windows Update cache:

  • Sometimes, corrupted Windows Update cache can cause issues. To clear it:
    • Open Command Prompt as administrator.
    • Type the following commands one by one and press Enter after each.
  • net stop wuauserv
  • net stop bits
  • ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
  • net start wuauserv
  • net start bits
    • Restart your computer and try updating again.

Check available disk space: Ensure that you have enough free disk space on your laptop. Windows updates require sufficient space to download and install.

Update drivers: Outdated or incompatible drivers can sometimes interfere with Windows updates. Visit our HP website and download/install the latest drivers for your specific model.

Manually download the update: If the update continues to fail through Windows Update, you can download the update manually from the Microsoft Update Catalog:

  • Go to the Microsoft Update Catalog.
  • Search for "Feature update to Windows 10, version 22H2".
  • Download the appropriate update file for your system architecture (usually x64 for most modern laptops).
  • Double-click the downloaded file to install it manually.

These steps should help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue with updating your Windows 10 laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
