To enable virtualization on your HP EliteBook 840, you need to access the BIOS and turn on Intel Virtualization Technology (VT-x). This is done through the Advanced tab under System Options. I would request you to please follow the steps:

Enable Virtualization Technology on HP EliteBook, HP EliteDesk, HP ZHAN Notebook PCs, and select other business PCs

Follow this procedure to enable Virtualization Technology HP EliteBook, HP EliteDesk, HP ZHAN Notebook PCs, and select other business PCs.
Turn on the computer, and then immediately press f10 to enter BIOS.
Use the arrow keys to select the Advanced tab.
Under the Advanced tab, use the up and down arrows to select System Options, and then press enter.

In the System Options window, select the Virtualization Technology (VTx) box.

Press f10 to save your changes and exit BIOS.
