@sufifriend -- what resolutions does your web-camera support?
Are you viewing its image on a 800-by-600 monitor, or a 1920-by-1280 monitor?
The aspect-ratio of these two resolutions is quite diffeenet.

the software that came with the system is basic. it has no way to set it up.
.settings enable you to choose the Size (resolution), and able to export the video to JPEG.
is there an hp software that i can use with this webcam?
I tested the webcam using obs for high resolution, the image looked normal. not elongated as it is using the HP software.
could the problem be the software?

@sufifriend -- the image looks good only with the 320X240. The monitor is set up for 1920X1080
320/240 is 1.3333, while 1920/1080 is 1.7777
So, there is some "stretching" to fit one image onto a much-wider screen. Is that what you are seeing?

thank you for your help.
yes. the 1.3333 (320X247) image on the 1920X1080 monitor is normal
but the 1.7777 (1920/1080 image on the 1920X1080 is stretched.
the problem is that obs software did not show this problem while hp software shows it.
