Hello,
I would like to assign the "comma" character to the M5 programmable key on my HP 435 numeric keypad.
I would like to point out that I have the HP Accessory Center configuration software which is supposed to allow you to configure the 5 macro keys. But unfortunately I have not found anything to assign to the M5 macro key, for example, a particular character here the "comma" character as an alternative to the "." key on the numeric keypad.
Thank you.

Hi @wChris79_DS,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that you are having issues with keyboard.
Assigning a specific character like the "comma" to a macro key on the HP 435 Programmable Wireless Keypad using the HP Accessory Center configuration software can be a bit tricky if the software doesn't natively support this function. However, you can achieve this by creating a custom macro that types the "comma" when the M5 key is pressed. Here's how to do it:
1. Open HP Accessory Center
- Launch the HP Accessory Center software on your computer.
2. Select the HP 435 Programmable Wireless Keypad
- Ensure your HP 435 keypad is selected within the software.
3. Assign a Macro to M5
- Find the option to configure the M5 macro key. This might be under a section labeled “Macros” or “Programmable Keys.”
- Choose to create a new macro.
4. Record a Macro
- Start recording a new macro.
- While recording, simply press the comma (,).
- Stop the recording after pressing the comma.
5. Save the Macro
- Save this macro and assign it to the M5 key.
6. Test the Macro
- Test the M5 key to ensure that it types a comma when pressed.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @wChris79_DS,
Here are the next steps below.
Additional Tips:
Software Limitations: If the HP Accessory Center doesn’t allow direct input of characters in macros, consider using a third-party macro software like AutoHotkey to assign the "comma" to the M5 key. This approach provides more flexibility in creating custom keybindings.
AutoHotkey Example: If you go with AutoHotkey, you can create a script like this:
This script will map the M5 key to send a comma whenever it is pressed.
If these steps don’t resolve your issue, I recommend checking for any software updates for HP Accessory Center or consulting HP Phone Support for more information.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
