In normal keyboards you can rename a file with F2.

ON HP Multi-Device Dual-Mode Keyboard 490K I don't find this possibility

Hi @rainerbee,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for reaching out.

On the HP 490K Multi-Device Dual-Mode Keyboard, the top-row keys can perform special functions instead of the standard Windows F1 to F12 commands.

To rename a file or folder:

  1. Select the file or folder in Windows File Explorer.
  2. Press Fn + F2.
  3. Enter the new name, and then press Enter.

If Fn + F2 does not work, please install or open HP Accessory Center from the Microsoft Store. Select the HP 490K keyboard and check whether the F2 key has been assigned to another function. Restore the key to its default setting or assign the standard F2 function if that option is available. HP confirms that configurable features for this keyboard require HP Accessory Center.

Also check whether the keyboard is connected through:

  • The supplied USB receiver, or
  • Bluetooth

Please test Fn + F2 using both connection methods, if available.

As an alternative, select the file, right-click it, and choose Rename. You can also press Shift + F10 to open the Windows context menu and select Rename. HP identifies Shift + F10 as the shortcut for opening the context menu for a selected item.

If the issue continues, please confirm whether Fn + F2 performs another action or does nothing, and whether the keyboard appears correctly in HP Accessory Center.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
