HP support system indicated there is an update: HP Consumer Desktop PC BIOS Update (ROM Family SSID 8B4E).

However, when I download this and start to install I get a message: The BIOS you are installing is older than the currrent version in the system and cannot be executed.

So presumably this update notification is wrong?

Check the current Bios version and compare it with one you are installing or that is latest version on HP support page. If latest version and your current version matches then you already have latest Bios.

To check hios version, Press Windows key + R, type msinfo32, and hit Enter to open System Information. Look under System Summary for "BIOS Version/Date", it shows the exact version

Thank you.

The Version for the update is newer than the currently installed BIOS (F26 vs F18). However, the ROM Family for the update is SSID 8B4E while that for the current version is SSID 8BFB. Is this significant?
