With the new update of the HP Assistant I have two icons that appear in the bottom tray. Both indicate action needs to be taken. The one on the left does nothing when selected. The one of the right will launch the assistant and show nothing needs to be done.(For the fun of it I ran all tests). How do I get back to the one icon that does not always show an action needs to be taken? I have selected do not show icon in settings and the active icon disappears leaving the useless icon, that is the one that does not respond and still shows actions needs to be taken.
Thanks

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
To correct this issue, uninstall HP Support Assistant, and then install the latest version from the HP Support Assistant website:
-
Uninstall the HP Support Assistant using the following steps:
-
In Windows, search for and open Change or remove a program.
-
On the Programs and Features window, select HP Support Assistant, then click the Uninstall button.
-
Click Yes on the Programs and Features screen to confirm you want to uninstall HP Support Assistant.
-
Restart the computer to complete the process.
Note: If HP Support Assistant is not listed or does not uninstall correctly, install the latest HP Support Assistant version without uninstalling the old version. After HP Support Assistant is installed and working, repeat the uninstall steps.
-
-
When the uninstall process is complete, open a web browser, and go to the HP Support Assistant website.
Follow these steps to download HP Support Assistant:
-
Click Download HP Support Assistant.
-
When the download box displays at the bottom of the screen, click Save.
-
When the download completes, click Run, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
This might take a few minutes to complete.
-
If HP Support Assistant is working correctly, you are done.
-
When the installation completes, select Yes, then click Finish to restart the system.
When the system restarts, the HP Support Assistant
icon displays on the task bar.
-
Click the HP Support Assistant
icon to open the application.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Echo_Lake:
Problems ALMOST solved. I have discovered that if the UAC is not set to one of the two recommended settings the yellow dot will always stay on in the task bar icon. Once I reset the UAC to one of the recommended settings the yellow dot indicating something must be done disappears. I find this undesirable and this was NOT the case with the previous HP Assistant.
Thanks for the response and I hope the UAC setting with the assistant will be modified to previous settings to at least allow us to turn this 'feature' off.
