Microsoft Windows 11

I have looked in Reliability History, and nearly every day, there is an error for HP Display Control Service, and 'Unsucessful application installation', Product version 5.3.72.0, Product Language: 1033. Error Status 1603.

This can be as many as fourteen times in a day.

Can anyone help, please ?

Thanks.

That error seems to be affecting quite a few folks that have the HP Display Control software installed.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if this related discussion is of help to you:

Solved: How to stop HP Display Control Service from trying to insta... - HP Support Community - 9587...

Otherwise, you can see if installing the previous software version resolves the problem:

VERSION: 4.8.57.0

Users report that new update fails. Ignore or disable, Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), go to Startup tab, find "HP Display Control" or "HPDC_Service", disable it, then restart. This stops popups without losing functionality. You can check it again after sometime when newer version available.

I can't even see that listed in Installed Apps.

I've just had a look at that link you posted (the related discussion).

I also had that Driver Update (1.85.4367.0), which was installed on 22nd January.

What do you think ?  Would you agree about rolling back the Driver Update as a solution ?

If you tell me what System specs you need (and how to obtain them), I will post them.

Thanks.

Venom21:

Did try looking in Task Manager, but couldn't find either "HP Display Control" or "HPDC_Service".

Is this related ?

Thanks.

BTW: HP driver not rolled back yet, pending advice.

Right, rolled back driver today.  See how that goes.

What about the other thing I posted please ?

Thanks.

OK, so checked Reliability History, and the repeated installs seem to have stopped now, since rolling back that driver.

What about the other information I posted, please ?

Thanks.

Still occasionally get the Live Kernel Event error 141.

How do I check whether I have a hardware problem, please ?

(the hardware error Event 141 I posted the other day)

Thanks if anyone can help.
