I was given this SSD HP Envy and know very little about it. C drive is VERY limited for space and I do not know WHAT is safe to delete so I can gain more space for a large genealogy program. There is a D drive I might be able to store "Iffy" things on. I have questions like, can I delete Cyberlink, etc. I don't think I use it.

I'm scared I  will ruin the whole thing. I only know that I should NOT remove Windows Systems

Can someone help? Thanks!

I'm running Windows 10. Preference

Hi @Albert_P,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I  understand how  it can feel when your computer warns you about low space especially when you’re not sure what’s safe to remove. You’re absolutely right to be cautious about not deleting Windows system files.

Here are a few safe steps you can try right away:

  1. Check Storage Settings: Go to Settings > System > Storage. This shows what’s taking up space on your C drive. Often, temporary files or large downloads can be safely removed.
  2. Use Disk Cleanup: Type “Disk Cleanup” in the Start menu. This tool can clear temporary files, system cache, and old Windows updates without harming your system.
  3. Move Personal Files: Documents, pictures, videos, and downloads can be safely moved to your D drive. This frees up space on C without affecting programs.
  4. Uninstall Unused Apps: If you don’t use Cyberlink or other pre-installed apps, you can uninstall them from Settings > Apps.
  5. For very large programs like genealogy software, sometimes installing or storing data on an external drive is the most efficient solution.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
