HP PRO 3300
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there,

I just bought a used HP PRO 3300 MT (i7-2600,8GB,500GB).

It came with a old HD 6670 1GB GPU, which I assumed worked with the computer. However when I turn on the computer with the GPU in the PCI slot nothing displays (Tried with the cable in the GPU and in onboard graphics). When I pull the GPU out the display now works. I'm not sure what is happening but I assume it might be something to do with the old BIOS

Thus we come to my question. How do I update the bios with this bios update (https://support.hp.com/nz-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-pro-3300-microtower-pc/5099458/swItemI...

I have tried a couple of ways, using the cmd inside windows which says System bios image corrupt. Trying from a freedos bootable says the program can't be started from DOS. I'm running out of ideas. If anyone has successfully updated the bios in this PC would you please let me know how it was done!!

Thanks

Hi Again,

I forgot to add, I had a look at this discussion (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-PCs-Workstations-and-Point-of-Sale-Systems/Howto-update-bios-...). One reply goes into detail about how to flash the bios through an option called "FLASH SYSTEM ROM". When I navigate to the same place on the same make and model pc as he does, I don't seem to have this option at all. This is starting to frustrate me, any help will be appreciated !!

hi

If the computer worked with this card
why should you update bios now

You bought a used computer, but what does the seller say?
The configuration for this type of product, may be different, but if we look here, the card is not mentioned .. is it therefore an addition, the original graphics card ..?

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02844729

It is indicated :300 W APFC

except I found that some models could need a power supply of 400w

https://www.gigabyte.com/fr/Graphics-Card/GV-R667D3-1GI#ov
The computer works without the graphics card.
It is possible that it is just defective, or that the power supply is not sufficient.

so before trying a bios update which may destroy the computer, check the graphics card if possible, and if the power supply is sufficient!
