Welcome to HP Forums,
this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand the HP Pavilion Slimline 400 Desktop PC will not work with the Samsung curved monitor,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you try using an alternate HDMI cable with the adapter, to check if that works?

When was the last time it worked with the HDMI port? did you try VGA or DVI to check if the monitor is getting detected?

While I await your response, here're a few things you could attempt:

I see that this computer went with a DVI port: Click here for details.

Make sure the drivers for your Samsung monitor is installed using the CD that they may have sent along,

If there's no CD as such sent along, either contact them or go to their website to download it on your computer.

Keep me posted,
If the information I've provided was helpful,
give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,
that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
Good Luck.
