Hi, I would like to insert a 4TB or 5TB 2.5" SATA disk into my HP Prodesk 600 G4 mini.

In the specs for the Prodesk I found:

SATA drives
500 GB, 7.2 K rpm, 6.35 cm (2.5 in)
1 TB, 7.2 K rpm, 6.35 cm (2.5 in)
2 TB, 5.4 K rpm, 6.35 cm (2.5 in)

Does this mean that the maximum capacity of the attached 2.5" SATA drive is limited to 2TB, or will it work also with a larger drive?
Thanks

You may have an M.2  "C" drive that has the operating system and an SATA data drive "D" or "E"

alternately the 2.5 HDD has the OS

If your C drive has the OS on it and is too small you need to get a bigger M.2 SSD.

Please use

wmic /namespace:\\root\microsoft\windows\storage path msft_disk get Model,BusType

to see what you have.  Run inside the command prompt as an administrator

17 is a M.2 SSD

11 is a standard SATA drive

7 is an SD memory stick (I left in a slot)

If your M.2 drive is only 16gb in size then it is Optane memory and the HDD has the operating system.  This is a guess as I am not sure if the 600 G4 supports Optane.

I was unable to find any internal 2.5 inch drives  larger than 5TB but i only looked here

https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?N=100167524%20600003490%20601189459%20601273164

and am not recommending that company, just listed what I was able to easily find.

To answer your question any of the 2.5 inch drives will fit and work but it may not be what you need if the OS is on a small m.2 drive and not the 2.5 HDD
