Does anyone by chance know how to get the HP Simpledrive md 1000h external hard drive? I went to look at some photos I saved and no longer have the software. I hooked up my old computer but realized I wiped it out. I want to pull the data from the hard drive and put on my newer one. Who would have thought a hard drive wouldn’t work anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

From what I recall, that is just a hard drive in an external case.  In order to see the files, it should not requite drives as it is simple a USB drive enclosure. (assuming you did not use the BackUp software)

If the PC cannot "see" the drive when plugged in, then perhaps the enclosure is having a problem.  If that is the case, then you might want to read this posting

I had a WD My Book External drive (I think it was)  which was not longer working and removed the drive.  Normal disk reading software did not read the files.  I found a Linux Live software that could read the files but it was a chore to get the files off and saved.  I assume this to be similar if the discussion on that link does not help.
