The HP Smart App takes such a long time to load on my laptop.

From between 18 and 38 seconds is a typical wait, but it can sometimes be up to 80 seconds .

I have restarted and restarted the computer with no success.

Why does it take so long?

Kind regards

John

to install or simple run it?

I guess RUN (launch) as in execute the program app.

ok used this one time me and kicked it to the curb. (for remote printing I hated it,) so did all my friends how tried.

read how it works first all that web server magic, (end to end complex) Reads like mAGIC, if you do.

is your internet slow.?

is FAST.com slow (mines 600)

It well be slow if internet is slow

or the HP servers that do that work are slow ( a totally unpredictable thing, IMO) " as in try again later"

YMMV ,

NO warranty answers by me.

Apologies for jumping in unannounced.

In my opinion

Twenty seconds is long but not "outside" of tolerable  - eighty seconds sounds a bit ridiculous.

That said, there are a couple of things going on that were not mandatory in older versions of the HP Smart application.

  1. Sign in to the HP Smart application using your HP Account / HP Smart-HP Connected account is mandatory.
  2. The application connects to Cloud Services (printer connected in HP Smart-HP Connected account).

Both of these related actions have had an impact on how long it takes to open the application.

If I am am correctly interpreting the comments made by @savvy2 , then there is indeed a relationship between your network, its connection to the Internet, and the speed of your Internet service as provided by your Internet Service Provider.

Regardless, yeah... eighty seconds is a long time to wait for an application to open.

Were I stuck with this situation, I'd open the application and leave it open during the time I thought I might be using it.

In other words, open the app, wait for it to completely open > Minimize the application and let it sit running in the background until you want to actually use it.

Assuming your computer is reasonably able to handle an application idling in the background, the open application won't have any impact on your computer's other operations.
