Microsoft Windows 11

Hello:

Today my laptop specter x360 was dead due to no charge, then I have charged the laptop completely until the light turns white. Then I tried to power on the laptop, problem I’m facing is it does power on ( light shows white, fan runs very slowly ) and that’s it, it doesn’t show anything on my screen.

I tried the holding power button for 20 sections method; still it did not work. Kindly help me with me, I have importance documents in my laptop, can’t afford to loose them.

Hi @Bojja,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Spectre x360 is not fully booting up, even though it's receiving power and the light indicates it's charged. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.

Hard Reset (Extended)

  • Power off the laptop completely by holding down the power button for 10–15 seconds.
  • Unplug the charger and remove any external devices (USB drives, HDMI cables, etc.).
  • Press and hold the power button for 30–40 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Plug the charger back in and try turning on the laptop again.

External Monitor Test

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using HDMI or USB-C (depending on your laptop's available ports).
  • If the external monitor works, the issue may be with your laptop’s screen or the display connections.

Check for Screen Brightness

  • It’s possible the screen is on but too dim to see. Try adjusting the brightness using the keyboard (often the F2 and F3 keys, or look for a dedicated brightness key on your specific model).

Force Boot with Key Combination

  • Try the following key combination:
    • Hold the Windows key + B and then press and hold the power button for 1–3 seconds while continuing to hold the Windows + B keys.
    • If successful, this may trigger a BIOS recovery or reset.

BIOS Recovery (If the above fails)

  • Try to initiate a BIOS recovery if the laptop isn't showing anything on the screen:
    • Turn off the laptop.
    • Press and hold the Windows key + V at the same time, then press the power button.
    • If it works, the screen should show BIOS recovery options.

Removing the Battery (If Possible)

  • If your HP Spectre X360 has a removable battery (some models don't), remove it and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Reinstall the battery, plug in the charger, and try powering on again.

Accessing Data via Safe Mode or External Boot

  • If you manage to get the laptop working enough to boot (even with a blank screen), you may be able to access your important files by booting in Safe Mode or using a USB boot drive (like a Windows recovery drive).
  • Safe Mode can be accessed by pressing Shift + F8 during boot, or you can try connecting an external drive to copy the files if the laptop boots partially.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
