Unable to remove / hide the HP - USB - 12/10/2018 12:00:00 AM - 49.0.4411.18331 installation error. The message keep on coming in the Windows update. Tried the Microsoft troubleshooting tips. Didn't help.  Checked the update history of the drivers. This driver viz. HP - USB - 12/10/2018 12:00:00 AM - 49.0.4411.18331 got installed several times. Not sure whether multiple copies of the same are causing this. Pl. suggest :

1. how to get rid of it in the repeated appearance in the Windows update

2. Whether removing the already installed duplicate drivers will cause any problem

Thanks

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer would be to try the solution I posted at the link below if you have not done so already.

Dear Paul,

I tried this option. Unfortunately, it is not working.

I have even tried troubleshooting (Windows 11) option under Control panel-> Troubleshooting-> system and Security -> Fix problem with Windows update.  It detects the problem and says that it has been fixed. However, the update keeps on appearing even after restart.

Sorry, that didn't work.

Someone had the same problem and Windows update reports that it 'Needs Attention,' after running the Hide Windows Update utility reported the problem was 'fixed.'

Sometimes you have to keep trying to install the file and eventually, it will go away.
