HP ENVY Desktop - TE01-1004na
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, I am new to HP and its services but spent much on a laptop Envy and a tower PC and a TV all just over 2 years old.  My PC diagnostic showed a fault with the windows installed and said a reason a bios updated resulted in a black screen.  CURRYS were i bought it demanded £75 to send it for repair and stated any repair would only be by consent.  They instead replaced the motherboard at £230 immediately and later said they had my model in due your procedure. I eventually agreed to pay and they agreed to return my original motherboard only they didn't.  So i refused delivery phoned repair and was asked why i wanted my property back.  I said as they already admitted never repairing and only replacing then repairing and selling on i was not happy.  CURRYS said a new work order was needed another £75 but learning i refused delivery could not. They offered to post it to my home but i refused they said they would send it to the store as originally promised then i found they posted it and by its value and fragility it seemed bound to be further damaged.  This was the tower te01-104na but my Laptop HP 17-ch0500 sa17 is said to be returned to HP  for free repair if a fault develops within 3years so i wonder does this apply to my tower.  I also purchased a TV everything HP which when setting up had a part requiring a newer part than on the TV brand new TV and i wondered if repair got to it and refund was refused even in writing.  I am now getting a message on my laptop - HP low-power power source detected your computer will run in reduced - which is concerning and need to know what my rights are.  Citizens advice tell me consumer law 2015 stated repair is free within 10 years as fault lies in manufacture.  PC, LAPTOP TV in all well over £3,000 with apparent manufacturing faults?  Am i as stated too return the products to HP for restoration or is this miscommunication and i am at the mercy of CURRYS

tow te1-1004na   taken for repair 6-7-2024 after black screen occurred updating bios.  Previously found windows was diagnosed suspect this is one cause of a black screen.  HP is said to cover or three years its was 2 years.

CURRYS were i purchased charged £79.50 though my receipt said £75 to repair, send to repair and diagnosis.  It was said and replacement needed consent but they replaced my motherboard at £230.  This meant taking out my motherboard when easily diagnosed and repaired but as they only replace their stated policy they replaced.  They further stated to repair what they replace in this instance a £230 motherboard.  This was done immediately leading to the question were did they get a new motherboard or was it from another PC they replaced but charged me full price as new.  I asked for my motherboard to be returned with my working PC  and it was agreed but never happened.  i phoned repair and they wanted to know why i wanted my property back though never asked permission to take.  They said a new work order another £75 was needed but i told i had refused delivery so it was still with them.

I complained and told the motherboard was now at the store with my PC so i could collect and a £50 voucher for the poor service.  The transaction meant £75 then £230 then another £230 to sell on my property  even trying to get a further £75 so in total £610 for a fault they did not bother to seek. They also said take my word it is a new motherboard.

My problem is they short changed me, so lied by and colluded as there were two of them.  They charged full price for a new motherboard offering their word as proof no receipt no paperwork.  The policy is to take without asking and arguing return of my property worth £230 without trying to repair then repair to sell on at £230 as new.  They charged to repair but had no intention to repair so should repay the £75.  Without consent this is theft,  They also used the agreement to return my motherboard with my PC to force payment before return or able to see it working.  Though said they would help reset my PC but simply handed it to me without my motherboard having taken the money and i refused to accept it.

It seems clear they lied throughout, they didn't do what i paid a high price that they do repair, stole my property £230 replaced with said new motherboard charged the full new price but refused any proof.  Fraud comes to mind and CURRYS has been fined £29.1 million for selling insurance to the insured.  I purchased a TV and refused the cost of insurance so they halved it?  A webcam on sale for weeks at £179 was advertised at £66 despite stated daily price checks.  It may well be they got a new motherboard but unlikely they put it in having taken the present one out so easily fixed leaving them with the new one to sell. Though would mean they got the new one from HP under the warranty.  Or used one taken from another PC swapping them and still claiming the new one.

The culture of criminal enterprise seems to say the staff they trained to defraud people over insurance are still employed but the money goes into CURRYS till.  Though repair has its own station its own till and a problem i had reported with my brand new TV was dismissed, refusing reimbursement or exchange or putting it in writing.  It seems if a repair on a TV is done CURRYS has the facility to rewrap using other parts which seemed the situation the case of my TV.  Offering his word it was new soon became an insult and further abuse and even if new the procedure allowed many abuses as said and he could not follow every case so could not have followed mine. Like dismissing the whole thing as my fault without knowing what or if damaged  and assuming having finally doing as agreed i should be grateful.  They ransomed my PC which likely had little is any problem as working but not transmitting to monitor.  A new CMOS pennies turned to hundreds of pounds.

Having ran this scam so blatantly so long if my PC  did have a problem it was never looked for or attempted to repair and if more than a CMOS it would be as likely done in their hands.  Though how many more arts have they taken and what might they have done when showing themselves so petty.  This scam stealing parts when offering repair selling them on must make a fortune and customers only want working appliances and new parts seem ideal.  But are they new?

I’m not a lawyer, but I can offer some general guidance. If your HP ENVY Desktop TE01-1004na has manufacturing faults, you may have rights under consumer law. Consider the following steps:

  1. Warranty and Repair:

    • Your laptop (HP 17-ch0500 sa17) is eligible for free repair within 3 years if a fault develops.
    • Check if the same applies to your desktop tower (TE01-1004na). Contact HP support for clarification.
  2. Refund and Replacement:

    • If CURRYS replaced your motherboard without consent, you may have grounds for a refund or replacement.
    • Document all interactions with CURRYS, including promises made and any refusal to return your original motherboard.
  3. Consumer Rights:

    • Consumer law varies by region. In the UK, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 covers faulty goods.
    • You may be entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund within a reasonable time frame.
  4. Low-Power Source Detected:

    • Address the message on your laptop promptly. It could indicate a power-related issue.

I found a fault when running a diagnosis with the windows though things worked but it was said a cause of a black screen so seems a manufacture fault.  But i gave it to CURRYS for repair not HP and my finding is my word  so seems an option to escape liability.  Logic has no place at CURRYS only profit and a staff trained to defraud the public also short change and take any other advantage.  That they said i had to consent to parts at an extra cost then replaced my motherboard without consent seems to require they lie which they do so well.  That i only agreed to pay before repair sent my PC back with the motherboard they had habit of selling on seems extortion but again they lie.

A verbal contract was already discredited when saying a diagnosis was to be done the as not on paper unenforceable but followed by one was done but no result allowed.  They say an internal investigation will be held that do not get to hear its result.  I thought the price was £79 and said so to have my PC sent to repair they gave me 50p change from £80 but was written on a board at £75 and the receipt said £76.  I didn't check at the time and it was bundled in with other receipts for my original purchase.  I would like to know if HP provided the motherboard as inside three years old.

They offered no proof it was new though sell on what they replace after repairing and it may well be what happened but charged as new with only there word it is new. They ransomed my PC knowing it essential and has cost me much by its loss but they simply follow policy.  They only returned my motherboard to the shop after failing to secure a further £75 for another work order by not returning it as agreed.  Now they simple say both are in store for collection as though nothing happened claiming its my fault not manufacture. But no diagnostic no proof what was wrong.

It was likely a new CMOS or cleaning the memory card or using another PC to restart it as the sound was the same.  They advertise one price but sell on the floor at another yet claim to price check daily so lying is no problem. Even if i got my PC back they could have taken anything as there policy replaced it with anything that keeps it going for a short period.   Its the culture today make to break though insurance seems sold but from their web pages few get repair. My one item is set to make them £75 then £230 then another £230 to actually repair and sell on.  If they did get it from HP they likely kept the new one for sale another £230.  They were fined £29.1 million for training staff to sell insurance to the insured.

I wrote a letter s instructed of deadlock that i take action in 14 days if no reply.  There was a reply but i had not realised the extent they went to hide there crimes.  I originally was conned out of a few pounds as charged £79.50 when costing £75 to send to repair.  They said it was for in depth diagnosis and repair with parts costing more but had to be agreed.  They denied diagnosis then said it was done but offered nothing yet the windows was faulty as found before taking it to CURRYS.  This was one of the causes of a black screen and a manufacturers fault.

They somehow had a brand new £230 motherboard to hand and relaced mine without permission so i refused they took it out and i had to agree as i needed my PC so they put it back. Twice they had my motherboard on the table without testing it but said the don't repair they replace.  They said they got the motherboard from HP but so fast it seems more likely from another replaced PC motherboard.  Though they could have claimed the motherboard as within three years but charged me full rice.  The admitted to repairing parts taken then using them on other repairs or sold them on. I asked repair for my motherboard back with my PC and they left me on the phone to talk then agreed.  They did not send my motherboard back with my PC but the deal had coerced me into paying up front sight unseen.  i refused delivery phoned repair and they asked why i wanted my property back?  then said a new work order would cost £75.  I told them i refused delivery so they could not charge me and they offered to send my fragile expensive motherboard by post and i refused.  they said they would send it to the store but seemed to post it there and i complained.

Their last letter says i lied saying the motherboard and PC were not in the store but they were not when i complained.  Whereas they charged for repair but don't repair, for a diagnosis but don't diagnose so charge£75 for transport?  They said i lied about paying a second £75 for return of my motherboard after they kept it despite agreement it be returned with my PC essentially theft.  But again the seem not to have read my complaint stating they attempted to extort another £75 but as i refused delivery they could not.  So i could not give them a receipt as asked for.  They did want me to believe them saying the motherboard was new yet to word was given by someone trusting repair as no contact with any of it.  As said the windows was faulty and able to claim a new motherboard from HP but that was not chargeable yet they charged full price.  They said it was my fault so not covered though offered an internal investigation and like the diagnosis i would not be allowed to know the result.

Basically they extorted money ransoming my motherboard forcing me to pay in advance making £305 for what was likely a new CMOS but despite the deal they kept my motherboard and tried to make me pay another £75.  If i had not refused delivery they would have knowing if i refused they had my £230mmotherboard to sell.  That would take their profit to £765 for doing nothing but so complacent they never read my complaint.  I believe my next step is the financial ombudsman and fair trading who have dealt with CURRYS before along with their partner CARPHONE WAREHOUSE now 10 years old already admitting to selling insurance to the insured fined £29.1 million.  The staff they admitted to train to do it seem still employed and items advertised are not priced in store as advertised and sold at the higher price.  Despite said price checks done daily a webcam at £66 is sold at £179 with no refund week after week.  Insurance if refused is suddenly halved in cost and parts in brand new TV's found to be old are likely the result of repair and repackaging as new.  Yet the signs say you can't buy for less.  Has anyone any advice
