Microsoft Windows 11

Probably a simple question but driving me insane.  My HP wireless mouse 200 is not working.  Was running slow so I changed the  battery and turned it back on and hit the connect button but nothing is happening.  No light.  It is showing up in my device list but I don't know what else to do.

I thought I might have installed the batteries wrong so I did it in every combination and even watched a video to be sure.

I seem to remember having a mouse that had to be plugged in, turned on, connection on in some odd specific order.  Anyone know what order.  I tried to look up a manual but just got an outline and no real instructions.

Help.
