I uninstalled my printer, hoping to reinstall it to correct an issue. The scanner is the only component showing now and I cannot reinstall the printer.

Hi @Lizzie24x,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If you're using the HP OfficeJet 8015e All-in-One Printer and only the scanner is showing after uninstalling the printer, likely, the full print driver package was not properly reinstalled or detected by Windows.
Step-by-Step Fix
1. Fully Uninstall All HP Software
- Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Uninstall anything related to HP OfficeJet 8015e or HP Smart.
- Restart your computer.
2. Use HP’s Official Uninstaller Tool (Optional but Recommended)
- HP provides a cleanup utility to remove leftover files. You can find it on their support site or use the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool.
3. Download and Install the Latest Drivers
- Visit the official HP driver page for your printer: HP OfficeJet 8015e All-in-One Printer Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support
- Download HP Easy Start (recommended).
- Run the installer and follow the prompts to reinstall both printer and scanner components.
4. Use the HP Smart App for Setup
- Install the HP Smart app: HP Smart - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store.
- Open the app and follow the setup instructions. It will detect your printer and install all necessary components.
5. Check Windows Settings
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- If the printer is listed as “Scanner only,” click Add device and let Windows search again.
- If it still doesn’t show, click Add manually and choose USB printer if connected via cable.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
