HP Pavilion a6542p Desktop PC
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Everything works fine with this PC, but I have just a problem now. My HP Pavilion a6542 does turn off the monitor at shutdown, but not the power supply. I have to turn it off manually by depressing the power button.  How can I check or re-install an ACPI driver in my Windows 7 PC?  I am suspicious something is wrong with this power-off driver. This HP Pavilion a6542 does turn off monitor fine, but not the power supply at shutdown.  I am keeping this old PC, for I still have a lot of programs that this PC works greatly. Windows 10, however, requires new software, and some of those programs that I own are nonexistent now.

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer, would be to see if any of the information at the link below is of help to you.

Windows 7 NOT shutdown completely problem – Solved - wintips.org - Windows Tips & How-tos

The hotfix referenced in the article only applied to PC's not running W7 SP1.

I cannot find any specific drivers for your PC that address the problem.

You could try updating the Intel chipset driver but that would be the only driver I can think of that might make a difference.

This package installs Intel Chipset support on the supported desktop models and operating systems.
