I get charged every month for a service I never needed, wanted, or agreed to have. On my bank statement it posts as "HP PRODUCT SVC&RPR", and it leaves the number ***. Everytime I call the number, it's like real people don't exist in the HP world, because no one ever answers and I just go round and 'round with the automated system. It charges $16.04 every month which may not seem like a lot to most people but I just lost my job and it's just me and my daughter, and well, right now $16 is like our next meal. So anyway, I'm digging and trying to find something in my account and the world of HP that could possibly explain this unnecessary charge.

So, just recently, I came across some subscription for an HP SmartFriend Complete Plan or some bs that I guess I ignorantly signed up for last December? On my account page it states that the billing plan is $14.99 (like, $14.99 one-time fee....? $14.99 monthly...? Yearly....? Who knows!) I don't even know what the service does. It sure as heck isn't a "smartfriend"; more like a "really sneaky shady enemy", and of course HP has no helpful way of canceling the plan and I'm really not sure if cancelling the "SmartFriend" (ya know, the moocher friend that no one really knows, needs or even trusts and only shows up when they're in need of something or it benefits them) is even the answer to my original problem.

*Heavy Sigh* It's so frustrating! Sometimes I feel like HP takes full advantage of our ignorance...and, well yeah, of course they do... They're a business and businesses' only goal is to make money. They obviously don't give a flying f*** about anyone's negative checking account balance...-$16.04, to be exact, and they've provided nothing valuable to show for it. I mean, LOOK, they have us out here trying to solve each other's HP problems and they're profiting from it. We're just doing their work for them.

Okay, I must end this now. Appreciate any and all suggestions of what my next step should be. Thank you in advance!

I am sorry for your troubles.

There is not a "Community" solution for subscriptions and other HP services - "we" are not HP Support.

That said,

  • I have submitted a request that someone take a look.
  • Please know that because our Community is not HP Technical Support, we are not a direct conduit to HP.
  • When there is a response, a Community moderator / agent will (should) post back on this thread before using other methods to contact you.
  • Do not contact random numbers posted in a public or private message by “new members”.  Vermin are looking for victims.

By blowing off steam, perhaps I misspoke and would like to retract my post. The issue has been resolved, I decided to keep the subscription (mostly because I was unaware of what all it was providing until I spoke to a very helpful tech), and all is well. Thanks for hearing me out! 😊
