Hi @Kenny19741,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The Hard Disk 3F0 error on an HP computer indicates that the boot device cannot be found. This issue may occur if the system cannot detect a bootable device due to a hardware or software issue. Here are some steps to help resolve this error:

Identifying the hard disk 3F0 error

Restore BIOS Default Settings

  1. Turn off the computer and wait for five seconds.

  2. Press the power button to start the computer and immediately press the F10 key repeatedly to enter the BIOS setup menu.

  3. Within the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.

  4. Press F10 to save and exit.

  5. Use the arrow keys to select "Yes," then press "Enter" when asked to exit saving changes.

  6. Follow the on-screen prompts to restart your computer.

Update the BIOS

Updating the BIOS to the latest version might resolve the issue:

For specific instructions, visit the relevant HP support documents:

Perform the Hard Drive Symptom Test

  1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

  2. Turn on the computer and immediately press ESC repeatedly, approximately once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.

  3. Click on Symptom Tests in the main menu.

  4. Select "Hard disk/SSD drive issue," and then press "Enter."

  5. If multiple hard drives are installed, select the one to test, or select "Test All Hard Drives."

If the test does not find a hard drive, you might need to reinstall Windows.

Reinstall Windows

If the issue persists, reinstall Windows via the Windows Recovery Environment (F11) or using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool.

Take care and have an amazing day!
